Studio Brief 1 - Design Development

Design Development

After coming up with my initial designs, i decided to go with the geometric idea. I felt like i could design photo paper that would have an edgy appeal and work very well in places like Asos and Urban Outfitters. Working with collages and geometric shapes excites me a lot due to me not having much experience in this area.

Another big reason for choosing this idea is that, as my target audience is young and most likely artistic people, i can have full control and be as messy and creative as possible. With this in mind i began sketching out random Geometric shapes that i could work with in illustrator.

Randomly coming up with interesting shapes and patterns. Working with blocks of colours and the use of repeating lines over and over.

Experimenting with patterns and colours,

To make things slightly easier to control, i began working with grid paper which would help me draw out precise shapes a lot quicker,

After testing out different geometric shapes, i then took these shapes and made a collages from them.

Working with selective colour and different paper and materials.

Trying not to overload the design with colours, the main design principle here is to still make the shape viable enough to see without it being over powered by it's background.
