I've chosen Geometric shapes for my theme for studio brief one, so i thought it would be a good idea to give it a bit of research. So geometric shapes can be defines as by a set of vertices, lines connecting the vertices, and two-dimensional faces enclosed by those lines, as well as the resulting interior points. ( I think most people know what Geometric shapes are) These shapes can be anything. Square, Rectangle, cuboid, triangle and a lot more. As long as you use a grid for when designing or drawing geometric shapes then you're pretty much good to go with out any problems.
So Geometric shapes aren't just found on paper or in maths. They are also used in Nature, fashion and architecture. below are some shape examples used in design.
| As you can see, you don't have to use a full shape in order for it to be geometric. As long as you follow the grid and the rules about the vertical lines. As it's been shown quite subtly here, you can also use geometric to create illusions. |
| Using geometric as a pattern. This the most common way people use geometric shapes. |
| This is another way you can incorporate shapes into a design. Amazingly produced, mixed different media makes for the whole piece to be more aesthetically pleasing. |
| This is a more extreme way which uses shapes and patterns in one. Bit of over kill going on here. |
| Another beautiful pattern. Colours compliment very well. |
