Studio brief 1 - Geometric inspiration - Eduardo Barba

For our designs, we could base them on a number of themes. The themes we could choose from were Shapes, Nature, Geometry, Time, Universal, Contradiction, Family, Tradition, Organics and Memory. So initially i wanted to produce work based on a post-modernism look and feel. Taking this on board, i decided to combine shapes and geometry themes to represent and allow me to created designs based on Post-modernism.

I decided to look into geometric shapes first before researching about post-modernism techniques.
I found a designer called Eduardo Barba and he uses his architectural training to produce graphic pieces that combine maths and simple geometric shapes.( I was trying to find out exactly how he designs using Maths and architectural but could find a thing! )

Amazing visual pieces of design that also have references to print and textile designs, with the overlay of colours and patterns.

Hopefully i can use some of these techniques to my post modernism designs.
Another one of his designs.
When i mentioned in the first picture about how Eduardo Barba prints looks similar to some designs I've seen from print and textiles. I will also take this aspect on board and i see this techniques everywhere lately also I've seen many Print & Textile students in LCA using similar styles, which made me first think of this process.

Example of LCA students group work. Hopefully you can see the similarities.
