The song that I've decided to choose is Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel and Reflection by The Supreams. For me the sledgehammer represents my personality in a way. The witty, weird and slightly dirty minded approach to the song is whats communicated through the lyrics. Therefore I felt more connected and a lot of ideas flowed through me even before beginning any research.
Listening to sledgehammer, I noticed there was a lot of sexual innuendos and the music video definitely backs up this assumption. The music is vibrant and upbeat as well as very fast, I knew that moving onto my initial ideas I must communicate an upbeat tempo by using aspects like colour and even type to show movement, Using sexual references and subtlety's is a also a must for any design trying to successfully communicate the the song.
Moving onto my 2nd song choice. Reflections by The Supreams. This song had a lot of emotions behind the meaning, which i felt order to tell the story behind the lyrics. The song is slow but very soulfull. The song is all about love and seeing the "Reflections" of what used to be a happy version of yourself. When i moved onto the ideas i hope to use design methods like water reflections to reflect past lifes also using cool colours will show sorrow and loneliness but also contrasting the cold colours with warm colours like orange, brown and red to show love and the happy times of loving someone.
