Looking into the song Reflection by The Supreams, I wanted to create a texture or a movement that would represent the flow of water or water reflection that you would typically see in a river, pond or sea. The method i thought would be most appropriate was to try marbling, as you can use multiple of colours and achieve the look which I'm looking for. I started to use different colours to see what movements and results I got against plain white paper.
After having many great outcomes with the white paper, i decided to try experimenting with different materials, using tin foil, cardboard, newspapers and different stocks of paper. I was hoping to see the different outcomes with the ink and how it transferred onto the materials. Some materials worked great and many did not. Below are some of the results.
I wasn't absolutely bothered about colours choice in these early stages. I was focusing on the movement of the ink and what kinds of patterns i would get as a result. The colours can be changed later on in Photoshop.
After experimenting, the ones that i thought best represented a river of some sort, I transferred them into Photoshop and increased the vibrancy, contrast and brightness along with changing the hue to best communicate the song. Experimenting with pinks and red to communicate love and passion best summed up what i wanted to get across. However maybe making the reflection red and pink may conflict the user by confusing them as they are most likely to expect a water reflection to be blue like water its self. This is something i will have to look into.
