My overall experience of this module was very mixed in terms of
pressure and enjoyment. The things I struggled with were keeping up with the amount
of work. Coming into my first project I wasn’t expecting this amount of work in
a short period of time, also on top of this was the blog, which I’m not a
massive fan off at this point in time as I feel like I can’t concentrate on
actually becoming a better designing when I’ve always got blogging at the back
of my mind. However this pressure from the blog was mainly because I didn’t
keep up with it so it kept on becoming worse and worse as time went on.
I really enjoyed Studio brief one, I had never created my very
own typeface before so producing a whole alphabet felt amazing and I was very
proud of the outcome. All of the briefs was very enjoyable to work on as a
whole, however I did feel like we didn’t have enough time on studio brief 4, if
I had more time I would of produced better quality of work.
I’ve learnt a lot from this module, the use of type and just how
important it is and how it can change the way we as designers look at any piece
of design. I also learnt how to gather research from a variety of different
avenues which I had never though about before, so collecting research not just
from Google but also looking at blogs, articles, comments and news outlets.
Overall this was a good first module and hopefully I can learn a lot about the
process and what the tutors expect from us, so hopefully things will improve as
time goes along.
