So coming into at Studio brief 2, i had a couple of ideas of collections i could use and take forward. Thinking of what collections i had stored away, I had three options to choice from, Guinness world record books, Stamps or Vintage photography's. All these collection are very different from each other. After thinking through all them, I discarded the Guinness world record book collection at first, this was due to me not having quite enough. I only had around 9 books in my collection and this wouldn't of aloud me to fulfil the brief to it's fullest potential. Then i came across my Dad's stamp collection and at first i was a bit hesitant due to my Dad being protective over his beloved collection. I didn't think I'd be able to gather a lot of research about the stamp and even stamps in general due to them being a bit of a dull subject matter.
I then decided to move forward with my vintage photography collection. The main reason why I'm going with this collection was due to what lays behind the image. These are all discarded photos of family's, and individuals that have been lost in time. What was the stories behind these photos? Who where these people? It's also interesting to think about that these old photos are all that everyone will ever know of them, unless you ask their relative. However in today's day, with social media around your whole profile will stay on the Internet forever, so many people will know your story and where you've come from.
So below is the collection of my photographs with some explanations.
| Just a few of the collection, in total i have around 150 photos. All photos are around 60-100 years old. |
| The collection came from eBay, £15 for 150. All random photos. from portraits to a group photo at the seaside. |
| Portrait of a boy. |
| Group photo. |
| In my random stash of photos, i found 3 images of the same girl which where taking year after year. It made me question. where is this girl now? who are her relative? why didn't they want these photos. |
| Whats her story? who is she? |
With this collection hopefully my research can be focused on the subject matter talked about above.
