Design Process - Page Layout (InDesign)
Studio brief 3 is basically a continuation from studio brief 2. In this brief we have to take all of our research that we conducted in brief 2 and essentially make a publication using InDesign.
So using all of our research on our chosen collection. This still includes 20 facts, opinions, word, statistics and pictures but formatting it into a booklet. The booklet has to be staple bounded. A number of considerations to take into account when reading through the brief is tone of voice and experimenting with different grid layouts within InDesign. So to me this means looking at tone of voice that’s relevant to my collection. As I’m doing stamps, I would design the booklet towards people who are interested in stamp collecting, so the style wouldn’t be funky and edgy but instead be of a lower tone.
Requirements of the brief; The booklet must be printed in the print room, so this would means finding out the restrictions of the printer and what i can and can’t do. The booklet must be produced in InDesign and must have a multiple of 4 pages with a minimum of 5 double page spreads. Last requirements would be the paper size, which we are only allowed to use A4 or A5 document.
The only thing, which the brief isn’t clear on, is whether or not we need bleed and if this could affect the printing methods. This question would be answered in the InDesign tutorials and i suppose that’s part of the requirement is to find out from the printers if bleed is necessary.
