Studio Brief 4 - App logo development

I mocked up the app logo that i had come up with in my sketch book. I first decided to use red, just to see if it works before trying other colours, like the blue i had originally decided to use. I though i could communicate red as royal and link it back to British stamps.

I then tried blue and instantly feel in love. Blue gave a fresh modern look and also applying a gradient gave the logo much more of a visual appeal.

I also tried to add a reflection mark on the top corner of the app, but this didn't turn out as good due to the QR code blending in with it to much. Also i tested out the controller idea instead of the 1p. This turned out to be a lot more better then the 1p as the controller linked in with the gamer side of the app.
This is the final logo. I decided to get rid of the white border to allow the QR code to have more room and not have the logo feeling a bit cramped. In the end it communicates a fresh and modern look to what i would call the new era of stamp collecting, which appeals to a younger audience.

This is what the stamp would look like in the charts of the app store. Also i had to come up with a name to go along with my app. I wanted a name that linked stamps and technology. So i combined the words "virtual" and "stamps" to create "virstamp".

What the logo would look like when being displayed on the iphone.
