Studio Brief 3 - Front & back cover ideas

The front cover is the first thing the audience sees in the book shop, so the front cover should be visually strong within a glance.

Minimalist style, representing the contemporary scene in Berlin. Stripping back to only using the name of the book and the creators name. This style would work in a independent book shop that showcases contemporary publications and books. Often in general book shop passer by are not essentially influence by contemporary design but most often influence by anything that is loud. As my target audience are young creatives, they would appreciate the contemporary/minimal style of the cover. Leaving the rest to the imagination.

Another benefit for this cover would the saving through printing costs. As there is only minimal text and no images the printing won't be as expensive. You could even find another efficient way or getting the text onto the page without printing at all, you could screen print, foil or even emboss the type on , this could save money on printing but could mean more time spent on other options.
Tape idea. The idea here is to print out a photo individually and to tape it to the front cover of the book. They could then peel back the tape and have a photo of Berlin in which they can do whatever they wish with it. This brings an interactive feel to the cover. Giving something extra to the readers then just reading the book and that's it.

Same as the previous idea, you could save money on printing as you could get away with only using the photo and leaving the users imagination and curiosity to look inside.
The style of this front cover is very much using current contemporary trends and adding my own touch. The front cover would have a teaser image of Berlin and then overlapping of text onto the image. The text would be in a grid system in order to showcase structure within a modern aspect. This would also link back to Berlin.
Simplistic format. Type expressing what the publication is about. The type on the front leave the door open for many experimental ways to create the type. All things like screen printing, embossing, debossing and many other methods would be easily achieved with the type.
