Studio Brief 1 - Peer Feedback Questions.

After my interim i was unsure about the production method for my leaflet. The problems i had were the size and printing method. If i wanted to screen print my leaflet, that's fine but at what cost? If this was a real live brief and my leaflet had to be made thousands of times then screen printing wouldn't be cost efficient and also time efficient. If the budget was high enough or the leaflet was aimed at a high level of society then maybe screen printing would be justifiable but for my target audience. Also, would making the leaflet black and white be more beneficial to cost? My design was originally in black & white and did in fact work relatively well but it was only because i wanted the leaflet to appeal to my target audience, that i decided to experiment with colour. Even though people might think that black and white would become boring and dull wouldn't be true and i have seen many contemporary trends at the moment that only use black and white.

The other issue is size of the stock. The size of the stock that I've originally designed for is 38x50cm which is around a B3. which in theory is bigger then an A3 but smaller then an A2. This means that for every leaflet it will have to be cut down to the size of an B3. Therefore it will become a waste of money and it will cost a lot in the first place for me personally and even if this was a live brief where the leaflet was being printed thousands of times. I'm not sure if it would be a cost efficient solution. It would be acceptable if there was a lot of information to fill up all the empty space but there isn't and i could easily fit everything into an A3 and this would make the cost a lot cheaper along with the advantages to the time and print.

With both of these problems in mind i decided to ask my peers in my class about what production method they would choose for printing. Would they prefer my leaflet screen printed, ink jet or just in monochrome. The other question is whether i should stick with my current size or change the stock size to A3. With this feedback hopefully i can decide what way to go and hopefully see the advantages from it.
