Studio Brief 2 - 8 bit Gaming CAN POST

8 bit gaming demonstrates a stripped back simplistic approach to the gaming world. 8 bit gaming is most popular from Super Mario and it communicates a style that is unrealistic, outdated (in the 21st century) and often comical. In combination with the 8 bit music/sound effects and bright vivid colour schemes the games become dumbed-down and where emphasis on simplifying objects and people  to mock and strip away professionalism in any way. Using an 8 bit game to communicate political satire is the best approach to mock and poke fun at Donald Trump by taking him out of the professional environment of politics and into a world of 8 bit flat imagery. You can start to form a fantasy land where Donald Trump can be emphasised in any shape or form picking at his downfall and appearances. By using the limitations of 8 bit his world becomes ever more simple, expressionless and comical with strict movements and abilities within a flattened world. He will instantly become a parody of his own self making it hard to portray him in a professional manner.

In the image below you can see the development of 8 bit gaming and how it's developed into 16 bit, 32 bit and so on. The style I'm aiming to achieve is the Super Mario from 1985 to 1991. The difference between the 1985 Mario and 2014 Mario is hugely different and both convey and express different connotations and meaning to the audience. The 1985 Mario communicates a simplistic, unrealistic approach aimed at any audience from children to adults and the 1985 Mario  features are cartoon like with no detail to express any form of features or expressions. The 2014 Mario represents a different style. The style it portrays is more realistic, a Mario that the audience can connect with as the detail is more life-like; having the ability to use expressions and body movements to connect to the audience on a personal level instead of a humous level like the 8 bit Mario.
