Today we had a feedback session. We had to leave our idea/mock ups on the table with a few question for people walking round to answer. At this stage I had already completed the animation for one of the game so I was quite far ahead then most people.
The only thing I was worried about was if people gave me advice about the finished animation. The animation took me a while to do so if anyone mentioned about things I could change to make it better then it would take ages to fix not forgetting the stress!
With this in mind I left out questions about the animation and only asked question about what else I could create in terms of promotion for the campaign. The questions I asked were:
What other deliverable could I use to promote the game?
The one question was all I needed answers for. I was at a stage were a lot of the design was nearly complete so I just needed to figure out the number of ways I could promote the game.
The feedback
The feedback gave me a lot of options to choose from, promotional material that I wouldn't have thought off. A lot for people suggested the obvious posters, leaflet and billboard advertising which I already had in mind. I was looking for unique avenues to test out. Someone mention social media campaign, this was good suggestion because social media can get a game trending, once it does it essentially becomes free promotion as friends share it with other friends like a snowball effect.
Lastly, a couple people mentioned a promotional video, similar to how they are on the T.V adverts. This suggestion was what I was looking for. An advert would be used as a teaser for people seeing it for the first time. It a chance to make a good impression and to really spark the imagination of many. The audience watching would essentially be the audience I'm trying to reach and with T.V adverts you can tap into millions of home within an instance. This form of promotion is great but the biggest issue if whether or not I'll have time to actually produce it.
