Studio Brief 1 - Clockwork Orange - Development of Idea 2

With Idea 2, I started off by using the isometric grid to start on the city. The character had already been created as shown in the last blog post. I started off by designing the roads of the city. Then building up the building afterwards. As you can see from the images below, the city started to take shape, it was very challenging to create the building as I had to stick to the isometric grid and it wasn't always easy to do so as some angles are more difficult then others. The biggest problem when creating the city was the scale of it, I had to work out the different scenes and locations of the crimes from the book and film and work that into the city scape. It was also important not to over complicate the city, if it became to complicated then the book cover would become overdone and really distracting allowing no room for the title or subtitle to breath.

Essentially I've not had a great deal of knowledge designing with isometric grids so it became extremely difficult and challenging for me to create a isometric city without it looking poorly executed. With the difficulty growing I decided to abandon this idea. I didn't feel confident enough to do the design justice, I knew what I wanted to do in my head but in retrospect I didn't have the skills or experience to pull it off.
