Below are the initial ideas for the 360º Crimewatch app concept. I've experimented with a number of ways I can position elements on the app. Sketching and testing out different features and how they will look in both landscape and portrait mode.
| Sketch here was trying out the interface for when the video is playing. Adding the option of changing the crime scene angle. Allow the user to view other areas of the crime on video, which gives them greater opportunity to engage for a longer period of time, if everything is within tapping distance. Next to the other viewing options is the 'call Crimewatch' call to action button and by pressing the button will take you directly to Crimewatch. By adding the 'call Crimewatch' button it allows easy access to report anything suspicious and again keep all of the important aspects onto one area and not having to click off the page to report anything. |
| Same sketch as above but positioning the button and viewing features in different locations. Figuring out how the user would operate on the video page. Trying to maximise the user journey experience by making features like the 'call Crimewatch' button visible and eye catching as the principle of the concept is to solve a crime. |
| Again, same as above but this time seeing how these features would work in landscape. Understanding the responsive nature of a mobile device. Landscape mode would operate completely different to portrait due to size and full screen video. |
| This sketch was playing around with an idea of capturing a certain area of interest within the 360º video. The idea here would be that when the user is viewing the 360º and navigating around the crime scene they might see a clue or an area of interest that they want to capture. Once they do they can hold there finger over the top of the area and the screen will highlight that area, giving you three options to call Crimewatch, share or save the highlighted area. |
| This sketch here demonstrates a menu, a place where the user can open up while the video is playing or paused to quickly get information about the crime. Information like the description of crime, CCTV, mugshots and other related 360º crimes from the users area. By having more 360º video will hopefully keep the user on the app for as long as possible and avoiding them becoming bored. With hundreds of crimes scenes within a fingers distance will keep them engage for the longest time possible which should correlate to more crimes being sold. |
| Same idea as the idea above. However the menu is demonstrating how the related video section will look. Instead of being position by the side, it's being place at the bottom which gives the user the full width of the phone to swipe through the videos. |
| If the user becomes confused of needs help then they can tap the 'help' button on the top of the screen to bring up a help guide on how to use the 360º feature. The user journey is important, so by having this feature should make the 360º video open to everyone. |
