Studio Brief 1 - D&AD Crimewatch - 360º Video

360º video is a new technology advancement, It's started to become more and more popular as people get the grip on how to use it. It's become a huge hit on YouTube due to YouTube compatibility with 360º video. "A 360 video is created with a camera system that simultaneously records all 360 degrees of a scene. Viewers can pan and rotate a 360 video's perspective to watch it from different angles." - facebook.com/help/851697264925946

On desktop the viewing angle is changed by either using the directional arrows on the keyboard or by clicking and dragging the mouse. On mobile you can tilt your phone or you can control the movement with your fingers.

Watch the video below to see for yourself:

The reason why I'm looking into 360º video is the concept that I'll be basing my idea around will be using 360º video as a center point, to me 360º video allows the user to see all angles, to see the unseeable for the first time. It gives the user a whole new sense of adventure, no more do you have to only see what the beholder is showing you, now you can wonder off and see a different view point, with new outlooks, creating a new video within a video, seeing things that the filmmaker hasn't noticed before. To me that's the reason why I think 360º video can be the stepping point into engaging and being more successful at solving cases and catching criminals.

When It comes to new technology, compatibility might be a problem. Compatibility is mentioned in regards to functionality across different browsers and platforms. 360º video is compatible across all web browsers apart from the obvious safari and Internet explorer, It also works across Android and IOS devices. This ensures me that this concept can be used by all audiences whether or not they are on mobile or desktop. Not matter time of day this feature can be easily viewable on any device, widening the range of people who can use the feature.
