Studio Brief 1 - D&AD Crimewatch - Making Of A Murderer

The recent Netflix documentary Making of a murderer has been a massive hit across the globe. To cut the long story short It's about Steven Avery a wrongly convicted man who served 18 years for a crime he didn't commit, upon his release he is again accused of murdering a photographer. While watching the program I noticed how much this documentary heavily related to my concept of the 360º video to navigate around the crime scene. Once the documentary was out everyone thought they were lawyers and detectives and began trying to solve the case as they felt Steven was again wrongly convicted and set up by the state for the murder. Across the Internet many theories were flying around about what happen and why it happened and who really done it. When people fill an clear injustice the global community will come together to find out what happened.

How does this relate to my concept? It clearly demonstrates that the feature will be used and isn't an idea that sounds good in theory but doesn't quite work in reality. Making of a murderer clearly demonstrates that people want to solve crimes and will go out their way to do so. The real injustice is that the case was already over and no one had any real means to investigate the scene. If we applied the 360º video feature in the case of Steven Avery then people could virtually wonder around the crime scene and look for clues and come to their own conclusions, then maybe the outcome would of been different as it would stop corruption and tampering of evidence. With thousands of people investigating on one crime scene the results would be a lot faster then just a couple of actual detectives working on the case.
