Crimewatch is a place where the public can come to the website to find out information about major crimes. they can look at appeal and CCTV of the crime, watch the reconstructions, contact Crimewatch and also watch previous episodes of Crimewatch. Essentially it's a hub for the public to get everything they need about a crime.
The image below is the Crimewatch website, the overall aesthetic of the site is modern and professional which is closely linked to the style of the majority of BBC and their brands. Crimewatch theme is dark and police-like to reflect the criminal nature of the programme. The programme has to seem serious and concise to get the tangible feeling of crime and of it's seriousness. If the website was filled with bright colours then it could com across as lighthearted and to much like a drama show and not a show that represents real crimes.
Crimewatch doesn't currently have an app for their site, so they only use the website across all responsive sizes. The mobile site is effective and works in uniform with the desktop site. This is because they have kept with consistency of the desktop site but have made the site responsive, therefore they have taken great care about how the user would operate on the site. The only downfall I have about the website is the length. A lot of the information is on the home page so the user has to scroll down for quite a while to read through all the information. There are many images that back up the text, which could be one of the reason why the length of the site is so long. The site lacks sectioning of it's information, the user should be able to see relevant information within a glance. Installing boxes that can be expandable will reduce the majority of the information and keep the site tight and concise, this will increase the effectiveness and flow of the site for it's users.
