After mocking up ideas for this brief, It's time to explain my concept in more detail at this early stage. My concept is focus around 360º video, using 360º video to let the user be the investigator and to let them solve the crime using their new perspective and angles. To be the unseeable, to be the investigator. Normally people would sit at home and watch Crimewatch while eating their dinner or lounging about in general. This is unproductive and not very engaging. Most people would see the reconstructions of the crime and see it as a crime show like CSI and this in hindsight won't make the audience feel like the crime is real and could personally effect them.
With my concept of 360º video, I'm hoping to put them in the crime, making them feel as if they are there and are a valuable part of the team in solving the crime. The reconstruction would be filmed using the 360º cameras, so when the users are at home they can view the 360º video on either desktop or mobile. When viewing the 360º video they can investigate themselves, panning around the crime scene with 360º of view and seeing things that no one has seen yet. The reconstruction are very dramatic and often exaggerated, so with the 360 adaption, someone viewing the 360 footage might spot a street sign that looked familiar to them and this can jolt their memory, taking them back to that day when the crime happened. Someone else might spot something near the rubbish bin that looks like a weapon and that's because the 360 Field of view allows then to be the detective and figure out important clues. It's interactive, which makes the user become apart of the crime scene, engaging and generating this tangle experience that they couldn't of got from the normal footage.
If any users picks up any clue from the 360º footage then under each reconstruction video on the mobile or desktop site will be a comments/forum sections where the users can come together and discuss what they have found. This collaboration of strangers all over the U.K can be the turning point to the crime. Everyone figuring out the puzzle and giving their opinions about the footage will only end in success. It won't only be the professional detectives who can only figure out the case, the users could be a massive part in achieve a result. No longer the need to ring up to help, these new adaptions are a lot more productive and effective.
The next step is to come up with an effective story that can put my concept into a clear vision that can be easily communicate to the audience. The story is where I can refined the important points of my concept. Putting it into perspective and to adapt an effective approach to making sure all aspects of the brief are met.
