Secret 7 was a brief were I really suffered with time management. The other briefs took up so much effort and time that the overall allotted time I had to spend on Secret 7 was very minimal. This lead me to work at a fast past to try and come up with a concept that was effective and unique without making it look rushed. It was difficult but through a lot of research and my experience from winning a spot in last years exhibition I knew the kind of sleeve they were looking for and hopefully i can use that to cut corners to come up with a unique visual.
The lack of time did damage a lot of potential concepts. Secret 7 is very flexible with no restrictions on creative freedom, allowing the designer to think out of the box and create a piece of visual design that is unique and out there no matter how crazy or unthinkable. I did in fact have many ideas that couldn't been achieved digitally but needed to be done on location with a camera. One example was an idea for Max Richter's Dream 3, the idea was to take a photo of someone sleeping around a number of location in Leeds. If i had more time then i could of done it but because of the strict time limit I couldn't arrange it in time as I needed people to help me and they were also in the same boat as me with time and approaching deadlines.
Overall I enjoyed the brief. It was interesting to see what I could come up with under a lot of pressure but I feel like i managed to successfully come up with two very strong concepts that have a good chance of being chosen (hopefully). With this brief I really felt that research really helped me come up with a unique concept. It only strengthened my idea and lead me down so many other avenues that i could of explored. I also gained more knowledge of the Bauhaus movement and in return is something that i would like to continue with and is the topic I'm using for the money brief for design practice 2. Lastly, the fact that I went to the exhibition last helped me enormously with my idea, on two occasion by remembering the types of sleeve from last year help my development and gave me even more idea which heavily influenced both of my final sleeves.
